About Us

Gravel Hill United Methodist Church is a community of people seeking to learn, live, and share the love of Jesus Christ. We believe the church is not just a building, but a people — called together by God, sustained by grace, and sent into the world to love and serve others.

Our faith has been shaped not only by worship and study, but by moments that brought us together in prayer, trust, and hope. Through every season, we have discovered that God’s presence is strongest when we walk the journey together.

As part of the United Methodist Church, we are grounded in historic Christian faith and guided by God’s grace. We believe in God’s grace at work throughout our lives.

God’s love surrounds us even before we are aware of it. This grace draws us toward God, awakens our desire to do God’s will, and helps us recognize our need for forgiveness.

Through faith in Jesus Christ, God reaches out with accepting and pardoning love. We are forgiven, restored, and assured of God’s grace. This experience may come suddenly or gradually, but it is always a gift.

Faith is not only something we believe — it is something we live.
We respond to God’s love through worship, prayer, study, fellowship, and service. Our faith is expressed through ministry, sharing God’s love with others, and caring for our community. Personal faith, sharing the Good News, and social action go hand-in-hand and strengthen one another.

United Methodist congregations are part of the larger body of Christ, made up of many denominations. As United Methodists, we emphasize several core Christian truths:

• Everyone can know God’s love through Christ and be transformed by grace.
• God’s grace assures us that we are God’s beloved children and gives us courage to live with compassion, integrity, and hope.
• God calls both individuals and communities to grow and to apply faith in meaningful ways to the world around us.

While we are united by these beliefs, we celebrate a diversity of opinions. John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, reminded us that we are not defined by uniform thinking, but by how deeply we love God and share God’s love with the world.
