Search and Seasoning

Thankful Thursday sits smack in the sweet spot between Christmas and New Year’s Day this year. For some, this is a time of a changed routine or lack of routine. The question most frequently raised amongst those falling into the varied routine crew this week: “What day is it?”

Getting lost in the moments of raucous together or relishing the morning peace while teenagers sleep each offer different scenarios. While a different situations surround us, this quote by Elizabeth Elloit rings true, “The answer is Christ in me, not me in a different set of circumstances.” If you keep finding yourself struggling to enjoy or find gratitude in the moments you are in, start looking for Christ instead. Where do you see him?

If your search for Him is a struggle, dive into the Bible. His Word offers a reminder of who He is and who we are in Him. Taking this step will have you following the direction of scripture: “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of the mind, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect.[a]l” Romans 12:2 The gift of time in the Word will renew your mind, helping you on the daily search for Him in your life, and allow you to season your circumstances with the gifts He has instilled in you.
