Wednesday, June 28: 11:15 am Ladies Luncheon departs the church parking lot for the The Brownstone Café in Middletown. Please sign up at the Welcome Center. Group limit: 12.

July 31-August 3: Save the Date for Gravel Hill Vacation Bible School! Kids ages 4 years (potty trained) through Fifth grade can register here.

Volunteers Needed. Gravel Hill Children Sunday School needs rotating and substitute teachers. The planning is done. We need you to help execute the planning. There are two groups where help is needed: HS & MS class (in room 201) and the elementary class (Fellowship Hall with ages 4 years old through 5th grade). Please contact Ashley in the office to help.

Redner’s 1% Save-A-Tape Program Bring in your receipts from Redner’s and the church will receive support from your shopping.

“Quarters for a Cause” container collecting contributions to support the Caring Cupboard.

Gravel Hill Christian Child Care: currently hiring both part time and full time positions. Interested? Please call 717-838-3620.

Thankful Thursday 6-1-2023

Shelter

Thankful Thursday feels the heat building outside from the beating sunshine. The golden glow being showered upon us is a toasty gift, but can become intense. When this happens, shade from something taller than us becomes our refuge.

At times, the activities and challenges of life can be like the sunshine – intense. When we look around for refuge during these times, Isaiah 25:3-5 reminds us to look to God:

3 Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
    cities of ruthless nations will revere you.
4 You have been a refuge for the poor,
    a refuge for the needy in their distress,
a shelter from the storm
    and a shade from the heat.
For the breath of the ruthless
    is like a storm driving against a wall
5     and like the heat of the desert.
You silence the uproar of foreigners;
    as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud,
    so the song of the ruthless is stilled.

It is in God that our hearts can find peace that passes all human understanding. He provides shelter not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally. Seek Him for the ultimate shelter.

Thankful Thursday 5-25-2023

A Prayer of Thanks

Thankful Thursday lifts gratitude for the moments of peace. No matter what season of life you are in the month of May thrums with activity. The hustle and bustle of preparing, attending, and celebrating can make your head spin if you don’t cultivate time and awareness to recognition and appreciation for the buzzing of life.

Setting a standing date for time in the Word with God remains one of the best ways to grow your awareness and gratitude for this life we get to live. By grounding ourselves in scripture and gleaning the lessons shared there, we receive gifts that make our lives much fuller. Hopefully one of those gifts gleaned is gratitude. Seeing the blessings in our lives from the basics needs being met to the astounding beauty surrounding us each and every day to the exuberant celebrations filled with emotion to the quiet moments open to reflection and appreciation.

So thank you God for the gift of this life. Our gratitude will never match the span of your gracious giving, but we thank you with all our being. Help us to live is such a way that pleases you Lord.
