The Sweetest Place

It is so great to live near Hershey, the “Sweetest Place on Earth”! I love to drive past the Reese’s factory and smell peanut butter cups being made, and it’s so much fun to go to Chocolate World and get a free chocolate sample! After that, I love to visit the store at the end of the ride where everything chocolate is on display! We can easily taste and know that Hershey chocolate is heavenly!

A Moment To Praise For Kids 8.3.21 in Scripture

Scripture tells us something similar about God – check it out.

Psalm 34:8 GW – Taste and see that the LORD is good. – Bible Gateway

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Blessed is the person who takes refuge in him.

www.biblegateway.com

When scripture says taste and see, it does not mean that you should pull out the page from your Bible and have a bite! 😊 However, it does mean, ‘to try and experience.”  When David wrote this, he was telling each and every one of us that we need to have a personal friendship with God and should experience His goodness for ourselves. It’s important to realize that we shouldn’t just sit on the sidelines, relying on others telling us about it! He also adds that the person who is able taste and see that the Lord is good will be blessed.

When we see God as our personal Lord, we will have both a place to run to when times get tough and a place to share happiness when joy is overflowing. God wants us to be in His presence always, and being in a close relationship with Him is the best way to do that. Experience Him for yourself. Pray to Him. Cry out to Him. Share your joys with Him. Simply count on Him every day and He will bless you through all the days of your life!

Life Joy and Passion

Do you ever feel a lot of enthusiasm about something in your life? When you have a new, exciting task ahead of you, do you get excited? Do you always work as if you’re working for the Lord? Think about your answers to these questions while I tell you a story.

My daughter and son-in-law have two adorable little dogs who are well-behaved and rarely disobey. Though they are well-trained, both dogs also are very excitable! When one barks, the other one chimes right in, even if they don’t know what they are barking about. If one runs to the door, the other one is close behind. If anyone happens to be at the door, their reaction is the same: full-on, tail-wagging, and excited beyond control. They want to be held so they can give kisses. They want you to know that in that moment, you are the most important thing that has ever happened to them. It’s quite flattering to be showered with such love and enthusiasm.

If you own dogs or have any relationship with dogs, you realize that many of them behave with this kind of enthusiasm with everyone in every situation. They do everything with joy and passion.

A Moment To Praise 8.2.21 in Scripture

Check out this scripture:

Colossians 3:23-24 NIV – Bible Gateway

23 Whatever you are doing,[a] work at it with enthusiasm,[b] as to the Lord and not for people,[c] 24 because you know that you will receive your[d] inheritance[e] from the Lord as the reward. Serve[f] the Lord Christ.

www.biblegateway.com

God wants us to do everything with the same joy and enthusiasm that your dogs show you every day. He wants us to run to Him when He knocks. To serve Him with excitement no matter the task and to spread love wherever we go.

Can you do that? Some days, it is very difficult to muster up the strength. But if it’s what God wants, we should rise to the challenge. Run fearlessly into your life, your job, your relationships – serve everyone and everything as if serving God. Do it all for His glory. Make sure the spotlight is focused on Him, and trust the Bible when it tells of the reward you will reap: Jesus meeting you at the door to heaven, enthusiastically and joyfully waiting to welcome you into His holy presence!

Amen!

Wisdom

Thankful Thursday focuses on advice. From where I sit, I can hear my husband sharing a bit of wisdom with one of our sons. Our son will choose to either heed that advice or not. The information has been given and the decision of action is now his just as Proverbs 12:15 shares: “The way of fools seems right to them,
but the wise listen to advice.”

Yesterday as I shared a situation I was facing with a friend, she shared some advice with me. I heeded that advice and ooze with gratitude because of it. The wisdom greatly benefitted me. She truly fulfilled the Proverbs 27:9 scripture: “Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.”

If you face a tough decision or situation, take a moment to read Proverb 3. Think about friends grounded in Jesus and the principles He teaches. Seek their advice. As a result, you too may greatly ooze with gratitude from what they share.

Blessings to you!

A Moment To Praise For Kids 7.27.21

Joyce Lochinger

Miss Joyce

“Hey God!”

“Hey God! Are you listening to me?” Some days, I feel like shouting that out! Other days I do shout out to God! “Hey! I’m down here and I need your help! Where are you?”

For a long time, I thought that I had to speak in a quiet voice to God. I felt like I had to use my most holy, big words to communicate with Him. As I have gotten older, I have realized that God doesn’t want that kind of relationship with me. He wants my actions towards Him be those you’d have with a friend. Be real! He wants me to yell out, “HEY, GOD!”

A Moment To Praise For Kids 7.27.21 in Scripture

He wants that from all of us, young and old. He tells us this in the Bible.

Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 29:12 – International Children’s Bible

Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me. And I will listen to you.

www.biblegateway.com

Give it a try. When you want to talk to God, try just speaking to Him. You don’t need fancy words. You don’t have to talk for hours – unless you want to! Instead of thinking too much about it, just call out to Him. Do it many times during the day. Let’s face it – we need a constant friend with us all the time.

God wants to be that friend! Next time something comes up that is hard, or you don’t know how to handle something, shout out “Hey God!” and He’ll be right there for you. This song is a perfect example of how to call out to God!

Peace

“Would someone please give me a break? I need a vacation! I need to find a way to restore myself and rest! How many days until I get to go out of town?”

Have you ever felt any of these feelings? I know I have, and I bet you have too!

Sometimes, the day-to-day struggles and strife with work, family, illness, and friendships can get to us and we cry out for a break! It’s normal and natural for this to happen periodically, and we’re all human in our need to lay low sometimes.  Our differences can often appear in the way we deal with these distractions in our lives.

Sometimes, we run full force into the world to help us soothe the problems of our lives. If we are not careful, we can fall into a cycle of addiction, self-hate, and sin.  Ultimately, these behaviors rob us of the joy that God wishes for us to have, even in the midst of trial. Read this scripture to get a different perspective on where we should run to for strength.

A Moment To Praise 7.26.21 in Scripture
John 14:27 NIV – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give – Bible Gateway

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

www.biblegateway.com

God is clearly telling us that we are to run to Him to receive the gift of peace that He has given us through Jesus Christ. We are not to rely on what the world deems right or good in order to soothe ourselves. Instead, we are to lean solely on God. At the end of the passage, He says, “…do not be troubled.” Four little words that truly pack a punch. God is reminding us to let things go. We should not allow memories and feelings surrounding hard times to linger in our hearts and minds, nor should we continue to rehash them and get worked up over them. When we do those things instead of leaning on His peace, we fall into sin and behaviors that are not of God.

Don’t allow the world to win out in your daily struggles. Instead, allow God to break through and grant you true peace. Speak of the joys in life and not the hardships. And turn everything over to God and let Him give you a well-deserved and needed break!

Friends, God loves you more than you can ever know. He wants a good, joy-filled life for you!

Daily Connection

Thankful Thursday sits in the midst of summer. It observes the comings and goings all around from weather to families to sunrises & sunsets. Much shifting and change surrounds us, but a steady undercurrent of movement provides direction towards new horizons.

Each day as we rise and spend time in scripture, we find one way in which the Lord provides daily for us. In Luke 11:3, we read “Give us each day our daily bread.” One of the keys with this scripture is that this is a request from us to God. So we have to actively have a conversation with God (often referred to as prayer.) God is our steady undercurrent, always there through the changes happening in our lives.

Daily, the biggest question we need to ask ourselves: “Where do we turn for help?” When we turn to our ever present God, He hears us. When went enter into communication and relationship with Him, rejoicing occurs. Bring the joy by getting together with God for all parts of your life.

Blessings to you!

Miss Joyce

Commissioned

When someone tells me what to do, I don’t like it. Do you?

I think that we as people will often try to do the opposite of what someone asks. I don’t know why that is, but it seems to be the case, including for me!

When God asks me to do something, I also may go and do the opposite. I might feel like what He is asking for is too hard. I may feel that I am not smart enough or holy enough to do what He is asking. Funny enough, God knows that about us. He knows our personalities so well.  And yet, He gave us one command. A must-do thing. It is called “The Great Commission”. This scripture tells us to “GO!”

A Moment To Praise For Kids 7.20.21 in Scripture

Read about it here in scripture.

Bible Gateway passage: Matthew 28:19-20 – International Children’s Bible

So go and make followers of all people in the world. Baptize them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach them to obey everything that I have told you. You can be sure that I will be with you always. I will continue with you until the end of the world.”

www.biblegateway.com

In this scripture, God isn’t saying, “Hey, when you feel like why don’t you just give it a try?” He is saying point blank, “GO!” I think He means it. He also adds at the very end that He will be with you until the end of the world. He’s not telling you that you will be alone. In fact, He’s saying He will be right there with you for the rest of time.

Try to remember that God knows what’s right for you and for others. Trust in Him and follow where He leads you. Someday, someone will tell you that because of your faith, they found Jesus in their own life. Now that is a command worth listening to, with a great reward for everyone!
