Countdowns
Thankful Thursday holds several countdowns on the horizon. Today holds Thanksgiving one week away. And just over six weeks away Christmas celebrations await. Tucked in between and around these celebrations, gatherings of tradition also hold space in our calendars and our hearts.
This week is a countdown of gratitude and expressions of thanksgiving. After that, the season of Advent, meaning “to come”, cherishes the coming of our Lord and Savior, the Messiah. The actions of gratitude, hope, peace, love, and joy taken during each of these countdowns build the anticipation for the anointed days of celebration. These areas of focus also build our ability to enjoy each other and the gifts shared amongst each other.
I thank God during the season specifically for these focus areas. Because overall, our hearts soften, compassion grows, and generosity increases to grow the goodness and glory of God in this world. I pray that your heart joins in shining God’s glory in the days ahead.
