Storytime
Thankful Thursday thinks about the value of stories in our lives. As a child, reading a book was a partner or group activity. Memories of my parents or a teacher reading a book aloud warm my heartand bring a smile to my face. I remember the soothing rhythm of their voices drawing me in as they shared the plots and twists the characters faced in the stories. As the words trickled to my ears, a movie formed in my mind. Those voices, stories, and imagined movies cultivated a love of learning stories.
The central character in the greatest story ever was in fact a great storyteller himself, Jesus. He drew large crowds who came to hear him. And he reached those crowds largely through stories. The current sermon series at Gravel Hill is entitled “The Kingdom Unveiled: Insights From Matthew.” Each week focuses on one of the stories Jesus shares. I’m thankful for the sharing of stories that reach through time and impact still today. Find the first message on our YouTube channel: @GravelHillUMC
