Thankful Thursday 4-13-2023
Thankful Thursday sees the breeze blowing outside and finds me taking a lap around my yard inspecting all the new blooms and buds. Our one tree still has withered leaves hanging onto its branches from last year. At the same time, buds cover the branches waiting to break forth with new leaves and life for the season to come. To help the tree along, I pulled off some of the old leaves for the tree to put its energy toward the new growth.
As I witnessed this and reflected, I asked myself “Do I hold tight to old pieces of life and in the process expend energy that could be put to use toward a new season of life?” When I’m honest with myself, there have been times (more than I’m proud of) that I have held too tight to things of the past. Scripture supports this elemental change of life. Read here in Ecclesiastes.
So as life keeps moving forward, I remember the words of scripture “There is a time for everything”, think of the tree and its leaves letting go and growing, and hum a familiar tune to spur me into action to “Let It Go!” Thank God for all these reminders and encouragers to move forward! May you also let it go and move forward into your next season of life.
