Thankful Thursday hears shared gratitude all day long here on the American holiday of Thanksgiving. People are thankful for the food before them, the opportunity to gather, and for sharing conversation with those they love. As you enter into the gift of a conversation, be willing to learn a little more about the person in front of you.
Prepare yourself (Proverbs 1:5) to listen in for the good stuff as you ask questions like, “Where was your first date? What was your most memorable holiday? What is the wisest piece of advise you have ever received? Where is one place you have yet to visit that you would most like to see?” As you soak in the stories as response you receive, watch the face of the teller. See which parts light them up. Where do you see them drift back in time to relive the memories? Enjoy the gift of their sharing and value the treasured nuggets of knowledge sprinkled into their stories. They too become additional blessings of value in your life. Enjoy these moments of asking and listening and Happy Thanksgiving!
