Excellence

Thankful Thursday sits smack in the middle of a mini “sermon series” focused on THANKSgiving and thanksGIVING. It is also one week ahead of the American national holiday, Thanksgiving. With all this focus on thanks and giving, you may be grumbling to yourself just like Scrooge did about being surrounded by it all. And you may be asking yourself, why is this so catching?

This quote from Voltaire may give you a glimpse into why. “Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” When we notice excellence in others and share our gratitude for being witness to it, we acknowledge the privilege of seeing and experiencing the gift of excellence. We become tied to that excellence. In Philippians, Paul encourages to live into a life of excellence (Phil. 4:8). Think on excellence, look for it, express gratitude when you see it around you, and give yourself towards excellence in the areas of your gifting.

Blessings!
