Thankful Thursday 11-10-2022
God’s Light
Thankful Thursday sees yet another day of beautiful sunshine streaming all around. On my morning walk with my dog while walking into the sunlight, we were blessed to view a gorgeous Japanese maple tree. The sunlight gave the tree a glowing effect. Once we passed by the tree, I turned around with the sun to my back to look at the tree again. This time the color appeared deeper, darker, & definitely less vibrant than my first view.
As I pondered these two perspectives, I asked myself, “How often do I look a fellow human through the radiant rays of light of God working through them (2 Cor 4:6) versus turning my back on the light of God and seeing a deep, dark person before my very human eyes?” “Where is God in the perspective I am choosing: am I looking to Him? Or turning away from Him to figure it out on my own?” More often than not, I default to the latter choice versus the former.
But the tree glowing from God’s light is a beautiful reminder to look to Him first. Because when making the choice to look to Him, He will take who we are and what we are doing for Him and make it even more than we could imagine.
