Be Still
Thankful Thursday pauses for a midsummer moment to observe. At this point 2022 is halfway over and the heat levels outside bring a fullness of appreciation for shade, breeze, and the coolness of air-conditioning! The surround heat tends to slow our actions which can be a very good thing. Taking a look at where have already been this year, the folks with whom we have gotten to spend time, and the memories we have made provide a foundation for appreciating these experienced gifts.
The foundation also provides a base from which to build the possibilities for new adventures for the second half of the year. Where to go? Who comes along for all the fun? What new flavors might you introduce to your taste buds? This moment of pause beckons to your imagination and dreaming muscles. In the heat and stillness of the day, flex those muscles – dream about the future – and just maybe set some plans with your people for some future fun.
Psalm 46:10 says this:
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
The stillness of the day is a gift. Treasure it as break for your body and a chance for your mind to wander through the possibilities God has in store for you.
