In His Hands
Thankful Thursday awakened with numerous worms crawling across hardscapes to escape the soggy soil. As I went outside this morning, I discovered many worms crawling on our back patio. I took some time to watch the “movers” make their way along.
First they would “search” the area in front of them and if there was no resistance, they would stretch their bodies into a super long line. Then the slinkly action would take place where their body would pull itself back into the smaller shaped version of itself, but in its new forward-headed position. And it would keep traveling along leaving a very faint trail of moisture to show the path it had traveled.
There were two worms headed towards the door of my home. This choice was leaving a large amount of concrete to have to traverse in order to get back to their preferred dirt environment. Seeing the potential problem they were going to put themselves in, I picked them up and carried them out to the grass.
Writhing
Upon picking them up, they writhed. While in my hand, they stilled. Once placed in the grass, they quickly made their way to the dirt. It made me think about how God can close a door to situations I am in and my reaction can be one of writhing due to the change occurring, but when I remember Whose Hands carry me through all situations, peace and stillness come upon my soul. When the new door opens to the place I am positioned, I can jump in renewed from my time with Jesus and excited for the opportunities into which He has positioned me.
You might ask, “How do you know you are in His Hands?” Good question. You can find the answer in John 3:35.
35Â The Father loves the Son and has placed all things in his hands.
That includes you, me, and all of creation. Everything is in His Hands. When you pause to spend some time in the Bible and get to know the Word, you build your relationship with Jesus. And as your relationship grows, so too will the feeling of stillness and peace no matter your situation.
Blessings!
