Meeting People Where They Are
Thankful Thursday celebrates St. Patrick Day. As this day approached, I asked myself what is the story behind the day of celebration. In doing some research about St. Patrick‘s Day, I learned Patrick was born to wealthy parents living in Britain and taken prisoner at 16 by Irish raiders. Captive for six years before he escaped, Patrick went on to become trained as a priest.
Eventually he returned to Ireland to minister to Christians already living there and to convert the Irish. To accomplish these missions, he used pieces of Irish life to help relate the concepts of Christianity to them. One particular tool, the Irish clover, helped explain the Holy Trinity. He met the Irish where they were to share the Good News.
As we walk through our day, may we meet people where they are. Connect with them in such a way that you live out the call from 2 Thessalonians 2:5-8.
Blessings!
