Serving and Being Served
Thankful Thursday appreciates the work that folks put in to caring for others. Last night, our family had the chance to experience senior night. The organizing of the evening from the announcements to the purchasing of the flowers, candy, and balloons to the meal for the team post game all were taken care of by parents of the underclassman players. These actions allowed the family members of the senior players the chance to fully soak in all the pieces of the evening.
The ability for our senses to pick up on the moments we experienced was such a beautiful gift. In reflection, the experience of “being” in the moment and be cared for rather than having to care about all the details of the evening brings joy to my heart. For several prior years, I helped as part of the team of parents working to provide such moments for the families of seniors. Being on the flip side of that care was such a blessing.
In Ecclesiastes 3:1 we read:
There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
Last night our team collectively celebrated the time, the efforts, and all the memories the seniors helped to create. So grateful to now have this moment as a memory our family can treasure thanks to the efforts of those caring for and creating the experience of the evening for us.
Blessings!
