Ready To Go?
Thankful Thursday loads our lungs with fresh, crisp air for those stepping outside into the elements. When prepping for the morning walk with Cooper, our dog, I layer warm fuzzy clothes under my coat and top it all off with a fleece lined hat, gloves, and a scarf wrapped around me to only reveal my eyes. As I begin to layer up, Cooper happily waits for his leash to be put on him by stretching himself out followed by quick short wags of his tail and even a few hops if he is feeling really frisky!
Cooper is always watching and listening to all our family members. At the sound of different cue words such as “ready,” “go,” and “walk,” Cooper will immediately make his way to the side of the person speaking the words of invitation even if he had previously been fast asleep! He is so tuned into us and the actions we take including the words we speak he knows when the next family activity includes him and when he will wait at home for us to return.
Watching his eagerness and preparedness for the call has me ask myself: ” Do I prepare and eagerly await God’s call on my life?” There is joy in preparing and awaiting that call. Do I hold that joy in my preparation? The call will come to each of us. Are we ready?
