Listening
“Listening is the oldest and perhaps the most powerful tool of healing. It is often through the quality of our listening and not the wisdom of our words that we are able to effect the most profound changes in the people around us. When we listen, we offer with our attention an opportunity for wholeness. Our listening creates sanctuary for the homeless parts within the other person. That which has been denied, unloved, devalued by themselves and others. That which is hidden.” ~ Rachel Naomi Remen
As we engage with others over the coming weeks, may you offer those in your presence with whom you have healthy boundaries the gift of your listening with attention to them. Open the floor for their voice to be heard. This means truly absorbing their words and thoughts. Only once they have completed them do you respond.
Team Tuesday 11.23.21 Scripture
19Â You must understand this, my beloved:[a]Â let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger;
May we each follow the commands of the verse above. May we be a sanctuary for sharing. Listening is an act of love.
Love well!
Katie
