A Moment To Praise 9.6.21

Binding Chains
Last Sunday, we sang several worship songs in our worship set about breaking chains. Our ladies’ Bible study group years ago also had done a Bible study about breaking chains that bind us.
If you actually take a few minutes to visualize the concept of chains as a metaphor for sin. Imagine the chains being wrapped around every part of your body, mind, and heart, that prevent you from moving or having freedom. Seeing sin in that manner might actually cause us to pause and look more closely at what we are allowing to control our lives.
Take a moment and visual yourself in this way and name the sin that has the strongest grip on you. If we can recognize our sin, then we can take control and combat it in our lives. Scripture tells us that we all sin. There has never nor will ever be another person besides Jesus who was sinless.

Romans 3:23-24 NIV – Bible Gateway
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. |
We are only saved through the righteousness given to us by Christ. This is not through anything of our own power. Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the grave is just a sampling of the amazing power that God can use to break us free from bondage and sin. This is the same God who created the world just by speaking it into existence, it is certain that He can step along side of us and lead us out of our sin and into salvation.
Freedom From Chains
How do we do this? How do we call on His mighty name to help us?
We just work at it every day through prayer and studying of His Holy Word. We rely on Him instead of relying on ourselves, and we do not follow the counsel of the world. For that matter, we do not follow counsel of people who are not trying to follow God faithfully in their lives. One of the most important things is to have a person or people who are waling in faith to talk to. It only makes sense. If you talk to someone who isn’t trying to follow God in their own life, they are not going to advise you to listen to the Lord in your own. They just won’t!
Find yourself a friend who loves the Lord. Someone who speaks joy and positivity. Pray about that person and then ask if they will help you to loose the sinful chains in your own life. Rely on prayer and scripture to help guide you.
Make it a plan to get yourself into a church that teaches the Bible. These are the ways that you begin looking more like Christ and less like the world. Christ has the power to give you the gifts of freedom, joy, and peace no matter what you’re experiencing. No matter what the sin! He can break all of your chains and lead you to a fulfilled and genuinely happy life.
Colossians 3:5 NIRV – Bible Gateway
5 So put to death anything that comes from sinful desires. Get rid of sexual sins and impure acts. Don’t let your feelings get out of control. Remove from your life all evil desires. Stop always wanting more and more. You might as well be worshiping statues of gods. |
