A Moment To Praise 8.30.21

Joyce Lochinger, Gravel Hill Worship Leader
Scripture
Over the years, I have heard a lot of questions as a worship leader and Bible study teacher. Some of them include: “What’s so special about the Bible?” and “What’s so awesome about scripture?”
All I can say is that for the believer, the Bible is the undeniable word of God. It has supernatural power to transform hearts and minds. It is alive! Our lives have it as a guidebook and road map. There have been countless times in which I have read a scriptural passage and it has touched me and led me through whatever my situation was at that particular time. The next time I read that same passage, it can mean something altogether different to me.
The Word guides me in a different way than it did before. It seems to know what I need at that time and it speaks specifically to me and my needs of that day. It’s not the physical book doing that, but much more the Holy Spirit of the Lord moving around and within me that allows me to see the Word in a different light.
A Moment To Praise 8.30.21 in Scripture
God opens my eyes, heart and mind to the truth. and creates proof for me that this book should be my navigation for life and in every move that I make. Here is the scripture that confirms it!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 NET – Bible Gateway
16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work. |
The last part of this scripture says it all for me, “…that the person dedicated to God may be capable and equipped for every good work!”
I want to:
have my heart ready to serve.
have my mind keenly aware of God’s direction.
be capable and ready when He calls me to act! I need scripture.
I encourage you to plant scripture in your heart. How can you do that? You might doubt your ability to do this. You may think, “I haven’t gone to school to learn scripture! I’m not that well versed in the Bible!” Be reassured! You don’t have to be a theologian, a pastor, or a long-time Christian to implant his Word into your heart. You may already be doing it and not realize it.
Applying Scripture
When you say things like, “Be still…” you’re using this scripture:
Psalm 46:10 NIV – Bible Gateway
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; |
When you think, “My hope comes from the Lord…” you’re using this scripture:
Romans 15:13 NLV – Bible Gateway
Our hope comes from God. May He fill you with joy and peace because of your trust in Him. May your hope grow stronger by the power of the Holy Spirit. |
I hope you see that you already have scripture planted in there, ready to be used in your life.
My hope for you is that you would remember that God’s Word is forever and will be with you always as long as you give it a home inside your heart.
Bible Gateway passage: Isaiah 40:8 – English Standard Version
The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever. |
