Assumptions

I am trying to stop a habit that I’ve done for a long time. I am trying to stop assuming. Assuming what people think, feel, or what they are saying about me.

Making assumptions can be dangerous. They are not based in truth, and most of the time, assuming is not a habit that edifies our spirit. In reality, making assumptions boils down to negative self talk. As people, we very rarely assume or feel positive thoughts about ourselves. Generally, our assumptions about the feelings and thoughts of others toward us are negative in nature. The bottom line? This type of thinking does not come from God.

Let’s turn our thought process on its head. For some perspective, this is how highly God thinks of us.

Bible Gateway passage: 1 Chronicles 29:11-12 – New International Version

5 he[a] predestined us for adoption to sonship[b] through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—

We have been called brothers and sisters in Christ. We don’t need to stress about what others think or feel about us, because we have been saved through Him. We’ve been adopted into His family of children!

Try to dispel any negative thoughts and assumptions as they are not beneficial or godly for your spirit. Instead, start assuming that you are perfect as you are because you are a brother or sister in Christ! Because God has made you just as He wants you to be. And He loves you! You are accepted. You can make that assumption any time and you’ll be right!

Remember that truth every day, and have a great week!
