Do you ever feel a lot of enthusiasm about something in your life? When you have a new, exciting task ahead of you, do you get excited? Do you always work as if you’re working for the Lord? Think about your answers to these questions while I tell you a story.
My daughter and son-in-law have two adorable little dogs who are well-behaved and rarely disobey. Though they are well-trained, both dogs also are very excitable! When one barks, the other one chimes right in, even if they don’t know what they are barking about. If one runs to the door, the other one is close behind. If anyone happens to be at the door, their reaction is the same: full-on, tail-wagging, and excited beyond control. They want to be held so they can give kisses. They want you to know that in that moment, you are the most important thing that has ever happened to them. It’s quite flattering to be showered with such love and enthusiasm.
If you own dogs or have any relationship with dogs, you realize that many of them behave with this kind of enthusiasm with everyone in every situation. They do everything with joy and passion.

God wants us to do everything with the same joy and enthusiasm that your dogs show you every day. He wants us to run to Him when He knocks. To serve Him with excitement no matter the task and to spread love wherever we go.
Can you do that? Some days, it is very difficult to muster up the strength. But if it’s what God wants, we should rise to the challenge. Run fearlessly into your life, your job, your relationships – serve everyone and everything as if serving God. Do it all for His glory. Make sure the spotlight is focused on Him, and trust the Bible when it tells of the reward you will reap: Jesus meeting you at the door to heaven, enthusiastically and joyfully waiting to welcome you into His holy presence!
