A Moment To Praise For Kids 7.27.21

“Hey God!”

“Hey God! Are you listening to me?” Some days, I feel like shouting that out! Other days I do shout out to God! “Hey! I’m down here and I need your help! Where are you?”

For a long time, I thought that I had to speak in a quiet voice to God. I felt like I had to use my most holy, big words to communicate with Him. As I have gotten older, I have realized that God doesn’t want that kind of relationship with me. He wants my actions towards Him be those you’d have with a friend. Be real! He wants me to yell out, “HEY, GOD!”

He wants that from all of us, young and old. He tells us this in the Bible.

Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 29:12 – International Children’s Bible

Then you will call my name. You will come to me and pray to me. And I will listen to you.

Give it a try. When you want to talk to God, try just speaking to Him. You don’t need fancy words. You don’t have to talk for hours – unless you want to! Instead of thinking too much about it, just call out to Him. Do it many times during the day. Let’s face it – we need a constant friend with us all the time.

God wants to be that friend! Next time something comes up that is hard, or you don’t know how to handle something, shout out “Hey God!” and He’ll be right there for you. This song is a perfect example of how to call out to God!

Take an example from the following craft and design a prayer jar for yourself. But you can call it a “Hey God” jar and place things inside that you are praying about. Save them and check back each month, looking at the prayers that you listed and seeing how God answered them. Have fun building a great relationship with God!
