Light and Water
Thankful Thursday welcomes the rains after several hot dry days. As I look at the plant life, grass, and trees around our home as the rains come down, I can almost see the deepening of color thanks to the long-awaited drink from the skies. Life and growth require both light and water.
As I see this truth play out in the physical elements of the world, my mind turns to the lessons of the recent sermons series: I AM. The series had highlights of Jesus being the Light of the World (John 8: 1-12) and how He is The Way, The Truth, and the Life (John 14:1-14). As the One True Vine (John 15:1-11) connecting us to God through the Resurrection (John 11:17-27), He offers us the gift of the Holy Spirit. As Children of God (1 John 3:1-10), we acknowledge each of these truths by looking to Jesus (the Light) and being attentive to the moving of the Holy Spirit (the Water) to allow God’s glory to shine through us in the way that He specifically designed.
The collision of light and water in our spiritual lives creates a beauty that will be breath-taking. So nurture your spirit with time in scripture and prayer with the Lord. The beauty of your spirit will only add to the amazing kaleidoscope of God’s creation and blessings. Enjoy this process of growth through the light and water.
Blessings to you!
