King

Joyce Lochinger

Miss Joyce

Often, we hear stories on the news or around our community about someone who is the “king” in their job. These are people who tell everyone that they are number one – the king! In the restaurant world there is Burger King. There are kings of money and technology like Bill Gates and kings of rock and roll like Elvis Presley. Lastly, we can find kings of the sports world, such as LeBron James.

These are all people who say they are the best in the world at what they do. But we as believers in Jesus, the Lord, know that there is only one King. How do we know it? Scripture tells us so!

Bible Gateway passage: Psalm 103:19 – International Children’s Bible

The Lord has set his throne in heaven. And his kingdom rules over everything.

Someday, those who believe that they rule this world will be surprised to learn who the real King truly is. Jesus will always be on His throne in heaven, and He will always rule over everything. He has power over the earth and the heavens. He is truly number one!

Remember to always put your faith in Jesus. People in this world will disappoint you and will not always be able to help you in the ways that Jesus does. Remember that, and lead your life in faith, trusting in the true King of the world.

This craft is easy and fun. Create a crown out of a paper plate, then add to it with marker, or find pictures from a magazine that help to show all the areas over which Jesus is king.

2 Paint the paper plate.. a.) One color – for a traditional crown, paint the bottom side of the plate with a single color of tempera or poster paint. Yellow, gold, or silver are popular colors for a royal crown. You can also paint the plate to match a theme (e.g. red for a Valentine’s day crown, pink or light blue for a princess crown).
