A Moment To Praise 4.19.21

Wiggling & Flopping

My brothers, sister, and I were texting the other day about one of our favorite camping places when we were younger. We shared some great memories, including campfires, boating, and fishing. When I think about fishing, I always can envision casting a line, watching the bobbin sink with a bite, and then reeling it in. I also can clearly remember the part I disliked the most, which was when a fish got caught and it was wriggling around on the hook while you tried to free it. The fish wiggles and flops around, not knowing what to do.

It brings to mind how we live our lives sometimes. We go through life without a purpose or plan. We don’t surround ourselves with Godly examples, or if we have a Godly person in our lives, we often don’t listen to them. Or we don’t find ourselves in the church and in the company of others who are growing in the Lord. We don’t read scripture or apply it in our lives.  And finally, we don’t pray and ask God for clear guidance to purpose.

Finding Peace

When this is our reality and a difficult task or decision comes along, we flop and wiggle around like the hooked fish who wants freedom. Only when we ask God for his help can we be free. When we open up conversation with Godly people who can and will pray for us, and give sound guidance. And when we pray and find ourselves in scripture before we make any decision. Only then will we not be found floundering around on the hook of life.

When God is permitted to lead your life, it is a humbling and selfless experience. There is no room for a self-centered heart when we are kneeling down before God and begging for him to answer according to His will, not our own desires or wants. When we humble ourselves and have faith & patience in our God, He will give us peace instead of, at every turn, a roadblock or conflict.

Philippians 4:7-9 New Living Translation (NLT). 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.

A Moment To Praise 4.19.21 in Song

God asks us to fix our hearts on the things that are true and right and good, and let His peace wash over us in all circumstances of life. Remember to seek the advice of people who are also seeking God in their own lives. And then wait and ask God to clearly show you what He wants to reveal to you. He will then give you a peace and stillness, within which your purpose and plan will become clear. Enjoy this peaceful song called “Still”.
