How’s It Going?
The other day I saw a friend and she said to me, “Hey, how’s it going”! My reply was, “Well, it’s going fine, but it is only Monday!” We both laughed and went on to talk about life in general. But afterward I wondered what my friend would have thought if I had said, “Today I’m just barely keeping it all together today!”?
Oh my goodness, I know you understand what I’m saying or feeling when I write that, don’t you? The day starts off great and then you get a call or email that is less than kind. You hear something on the news that makes your heart break and causes you to wonder what in the world is going on in this world? Or someone you love dearly has a problem or concern that seems too much to bear. The list of things could go on for a while, I’m sure.
But then I saw this scripture. Tucked neatly in the middle is the phrase, “He holds everything together through his powerful words.” Take a look for yourself!

This passage made me wonder if I am trying too hard to be in control, to be God. Shay shared a quote with me the other day that fits here. It is this, “The difference between us and God is God never thinks he is us!”
So, I go back to my question again, Am I trying to hard to be in control? I think the answer is yes. What happens in day-to-day life is out of my control. What is in my control is how I handle it. If I chose to give over all of these things to God through prayer and faith, I might be able to find a little bit calmer in my day to day living. Why not try this with me this week?
When you feel like you are just barely keeping it together, try giving it over to the one who holds EVERYTHING together by his powerful words. Take a deep breath and know that he has it all in his capable and mighty hands.
