Tell the World

Joyce Lochinger

Miss Joyce

Hey kids! This week, we celebrate Easter on Sunday! What an exciting time for those who believe in Christ! It’s a day to rejoice and share the fact that Jesus was crucified, and then rose again from the dead. He did it all for us! He did it to give us salvation and life forever with God! What a great gift!

But after Easter Sunday, how do you continue to express your joy? Do you act like nothing ever happened? Do you go about your life as if you don’t believe? As if you have forgotten who this Jesus guy is? God tells us we are to shout out our praise for Jesus always and make sure that we talk about Him and the gift of salvation that He gave to us. This is what God’s word says:

A Moment To Praise For Kids 3.30.21 in Scripture

Mark 16:15

Bible Gateway passage: Mark 16:15 – International Children’s Bible

15 Jesus said to the followers, “Go everywhere in the world. Tell the Good News to everyone.

www.biblegateway.com

We are supposed to tell the whole world that Jesus lives. We should shout it out with our mouths, as well as with the way we live our lives.

I hope that you have a great Easter and remember the real reason we celebrate this Holy day. And then, we should go out there and tell the world about it!

Godly Friends

It’s always heartwarming to receive a message from a friend that says: “Hey, I just thought about you today and want you to know that I’m praying for you.”  Doesn’t it feel good to hear when you’re least expecting it? Or better yet, when you’re having a bad day? I have to say that this exact thing has happened to me numerous times and it makes my heart smile. I know that God is reaching out to me through the loving countenance of a Christian friend.

A Moment To Praise 3.29.21 in Scripture

Here’s what scripture tells us about being a godly friend.

James 5:16

James 5:16 – Bible Gateway

16 Admit your faults to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous man has great power and wonderful results.

www.biblegateway.com

This scripture tells us to be honest with each other, and to pray fervently for one another. It says that prayers from a righteous person are powerful and effective. Thank you to all of my friends who pray for me and petition to God on my behalf. You’re the best! Also, thanks to the scripture for coaxing me to bring others before God. Scripture reminds me that through God, my prayers for others can be answered in a powerful and effective way by God.

Friends are a true gift and blessing from God. If you have good godly people in your life praying for you, remember to thank God for them. In return, remember to bless them with your prayers too.

Growing Conditions

Thankful Thursday shares warm weather with overcast conditions. From what I hear from those blessed with a green thumb, these conditions prime plants for growth. Take a peek out your window. Bright green leaves push up through the ground some already showing off their gorgeous and colorful blooms.

Those seeds started in a deep dark place. They continued to receive nourishment from the soil and watering from the rain to develop roots and sprouts pushing through the darkness. As that growth continued, it wasn’t easy. The darkness offered a lot of unknowns, but also provisions for strengthening and growing.

This past year has had many dark places for each of us. Our unknown futures are known to God. These dark times ready us for the prime growing conditions in our lives. We receive provision from Him that we may not understand now, but is strengthening and growing us for future that He knows. In trust, stay rooted in Him and in faith, grow into new understanding and opportunities where God’s glory can shine through you.

Blessings to you!

Good in Beauty

Joyce Lochinger

Miss Joyce

God is so GOOD! Any time of the day or night, you can comfort yourself by saying this over and over again, because it is true. God IS so good!

He cares deeply for all of us, and he also cares deeply for his creations for nature: animals, fish, birds of the air, bugs, and flowers. He provides for all of these things and He provides for us too!

A Moment To Praise For Kids 3.23.21 in Scripture

There is scripture in Luke that confirms these words to you. Here is what it says.

Bible Gateway passage: Luke 12:27 – International Children’s Bible

Look at the wild flowers. See how they grow. They don’t work or make clothes for themselves. But I tell you that even Solomon, the great and rich king, was not dressed as beautifully as one of these flowers.

www.biblegateway.com

God gives beautiful clothes to the flowers in the field. Those flowers are here one day and may be gone the next, but when you look at their beauty, you understand how much God loves and cares for them. They are so colorful and intricate in their design.

Think about yourself now. You are very intricate and wonderfully designed by a God who delights in you! He delights in each and every little thing about you. He loves your face, your hair color, your talents, the way you talk, the way you sing and the way you smile!

The next time you look at a pretty flower (which, by the way, are starting to bloom! – yay!) remember that that flower is a wonder and is amazing, but you are even more so to this God who loves you so much! Then, take a moment to thank God by saying out loud: “God is so good!”

Praising God

A beautiful thing just happened in the church office this week! It was a reminder of the sanctity of the church building.

A member came in to the building to bring her Easter Egg candy donation and also to just “see the church” because she hadn’t been in the church since COVID began. She really missed being here! She walked in, looked around, and turned toward me with tears in her eyes. The joy she felt just to enter into His sanctuary was simply beautiful. Her face was completely transformed in that brief minute of joy!

It got me to thinking that we should all feel that sense of awe and praise when we enter into His holy place. I think that scripture says it best.

How often do we actually give thanks and praise the Lord for allowing us to be in His presence? With the weight of the world on our shoulders, we often run around this earth scattered, overwhelmed, confused, forgetful and complaining! I call that the total opposite of what God really wants for us in our lives. God wants us to be praising Him, not “unpraising” Him – and yes, that’s a new word I just made up!

When we can actually focus ourselves on the ‘praising God’ aspect of life, we will find that our day-to-day grind is not so much of a grind. We become less focused on ourselves and more focused on others, we become passionate about the ways of God and are less concerned about the ways of man, and we become closer to God through the whole process – which is the best part! That’s truly living in Christ!

Always try to find yourself in God’s presence. God will never leave you, nor will He ever forsake you. He is always with you, and that’s an everlasting promise from Him.

Confident Connection to Action

Thankful Thursday trickles rain water down the gutters creating a soothing sound. The domino effect is the soft snores coming from the brown hound of our household, Cooper. These sounds along with a roof over my head and warmth-giving fire offer comfort and protection from the cold, harsh, raw rain outside.

While I’m grateful for these physical elements of comfort, the spiritual comfort I receive from time with God is incomparable. From these moment, instilled confidence grows from knowing who’s I am and that ultimately all glory is God’s. No matter what life events occur, big or small, God uses all of them. He connects with us and those around us. The question is “Am I looking to God each step of the way so I follow His calling on my life?”

Jesus modeled living this action out. He paused for time in prayer to connect with God. Always connecting with God and through Christ’s action many others were blessed. During this season of Lent, a season of anticipation of something bigger and better than life as we know it now, I challenge you to revisit scripture and follow Jesus actions with your own life. Go to God in prayer.

There will be challenges. Greatness will appear too. Know this: you are part of His story. He loves you!

Find your confidence in Him. Talk with Him in prayer. Listen to Him through scripture. Feel the Holy Spirit nudge you into action. And give Him the glory!

Blessings to you!

The Ten Commandments

Joyce Lochinger

Miss Joyce

Hey there, everyone!

I have heard about some great things that have been going on in Sunday School at Gravel Hill! Some of you are memorizing the Lord’s Prayer – good job!

I remember doing that when I was a kiddo, too. When I had finally mastered it, I felt really good about it! I hope you do, too.

I also remember the Ten Commandments, and how hard it was for me to learn and remember them. Even if you asked me now, I’m pretty sure I would not be able to name them in order. Even still, I know that they are very important laws that God gave to Moses in the Old Testament. They are good laws for all of us to live by, even today!

A Moment To Praise For Kids 3.16.21 in Scripture

Here is the scripture, Exodus 20:1-17, containing the Ten Commandments that Moses received directly from God.

Now, I know most of us do not like when people tell us what to do. We often try to find ways to go around the rule or law so that we can get our own way.  Even grown-ups do it, too! But most times when we run ahead of the law and do our own thing, it gets us into more trouble than it was worth. Most times, it would have been better to just listen to the rule in the first place!

We have to remember that all laws have a purpose in our lives. Man-made ones and God-made ones alike! That purpose is to protect us and keep us safe from harm.

Try to commit to memory the Ten Commandments. Maybe you can try to remember a few at a time, if it’s easier than learning them all at once. See how they can help you through life!

Here’s a fun song that might help you to remember them!
