New Things

Miss Joyce
I love opening up new things. When it’s time for a new bar of soap, or when I open a fresh bag of pretzels. I also love opening a new loaf of bread! I guess I like the newness of these things, because when you get to the end of any of those above-mentioned things, there’s always some sort of issue or problem.
The bar of soap breaks in half, and I don’t think it smells as good anymore! The pretzels at the bottom of the bag end up being broken, and the bag is full of salt. Then, the bread is always what’s left of the crust and a bunch of crumbs! So, as you can tell when I say I like to open things that are new, that I have done my research!
But what about me personally? Am I as new and clean as I should be? And I’m not talking about wearing a clean outfit, or being freshly out of the shower. I’m talking about the cleanness of my heart. Is my heart as new and fresh as it could be? I can tell that it is not if I have not asked Jesus to be my Savior. If I still live a life that focuses more on myself than Jesus and others. If I still think nothing of my sin and I continue to do things that displease God.
New Beings
I can also tell you that there is a way to become brand new. That is through telling God what you’ve done wrong, asking for forgiveness and promising to do better. It’s promising to follow God’s ways and not the world’s ways of sin. God can take your heart and make it clean and pure again. In turn, you will feel a whole lot better about who you are as a child of God. You will be forgiven, and made good as new again.
I forgot to tell you one more thing – there’s something that I like to see go from being used and old to something totally different and brand new. I’m talking about a caterpillar’s cocoon. When it’s shed, it turns into a beautiful butterfly. When I see that happen, I remember how sad and worn out I felt when I didn’t know Jesus (cocoon), to the day that I accepted Him as my Savior and He set me free as a new creation (butterfly).

I hope that you want to have a life lived in the beauty of Jesus’ love and forgiveness. All you have to do is pray and ask Him to change you from your cocoon into that lovely butterfly. Enjoy this song, “All Things New“. It’s not really a kid version of the song, but it has great words!
