Thankful Thursday 12-3-2020
Sharing
Thankful Thursday spurs on action. Why do I say that? Lifting our praise of thanks generates a responsive action. As we turn the corner from Thanksgiving to Christmas, a natural focus goes from gratitude to gifting. The responsive action of sharing through gifting takes on various forms depending on our love language.
In the book, The 5 Love Languages by Dr. Gary Chapman, he shares the 5 love languages people use to communicate love: words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, small gifts, and physical touch. We often gift through means of our strongest love language, but the best gift is one that speaks to the love language of the recipient. As noted through the categories, the best gifts we offer others are priceless. They are gifts that require thought of the recipient and time invested in the creation/search for the love language piece that says “This is perfect for _____!”
Gifting Love
Time is a gift we each have. Being aware of this blessing, soaking in the gift, and sharing it with those we love creates the priceless treasures we hold dear as memories. As you begin your search for the perfect gift to your loved ones, remember to first lift your loved ones in prayers of praise and gratitude (a wonderful gift!). Then begin your journey through shared memories to find the treasured connection points that speak to their love language. Their perfect gift may look like a hand written letter from you, scheduled coffee time, cleaning and putting away the dishes for them, gathered branches tied with a ribbon, or a shoulder massage.
Enjoy the journey of finding gifts for your loved ones. Memories will rise. Love will well up. Let it overflow through your sharing.
Blessings to you!
