Hi kids and parents! I hope that you are all doing well!
Today I want to talk about something that is so cool to see flying around on a summer night – fireflies or lightning bugs!
I was taking a walk a few days ago, and it was just starting to get dark when I felt something fly onto my shirt. Of course, I jumped and was ready to let out a little yell when I saw the blinking of a lightning bug and realized that I was safe from harm. I always loved lightning bugs and collecting them in a jar on a hazy and hot summer evening. One thing I noticed when I was little as well as the other night with my little bug visitor was that it just kept blinking. Nothing was going to stop it from sharing its light! Hmm, I wonder if there is a Bible verse about the same thing for us humans?

Of course! God wants us to shine in the world just like the fireflies. Don’t let anyone or anything cause you to stop shining. God placed you on this earth for a specific reason. It’s your job to listen to God’s calling in your life and then you should go out and shine for everyone to see God’s goodness in you!
