Our Greatest Valentine

Thankful Thursday reflects on the the sights and sounds of Valentine’s Day yesterday. An early dinner out allowed for the observation of couples sharing time and a meal together to celebrate the day. As we waited to be seated and throughout our meal, the diners surrounding us ranged from life-experienced couples with many years together to young folks dressed up to impress each other to young families sharing a meal together with all the Valentine’s included. Smiles and chatter filled the air along with the delicious smelling (& tasting food.) Love loomed large.

In that setting last night, the quality time being spent together allowed the diners to focus on the one they were there with. Eyes locked. Stories shared over meals. Souls were nourished.

God’s uses you and me to connect with those around us. Those connections when rooted in Christ and focused on the other become the conduit for love to flow freely, rapidly, and more fully into our lives. The season of Lent offers the annual reminder to audit our lives and actions, repent of sinful ways, and lock our lives into Christ by sharing our hearts and opening our souls to His nourishment. 1 John 4:7 implores us, “Beloved, let us love one another, because love is from God; everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.”

God loves us. And He waits for us to repent from our sins turning to Him, our good and gracious Father. Thank you Father for your never-ending love, the greastest Valentine we could ever receive.

Blessings!
