Pioneer Club

Pioneer Club (PC) is a midweek Bible study "Club" for children grades pre-k-5. (pre-k= ages 3 and 4 who are potty trained). The Club runs Wednesday evenings from 6:30-8:00 Sept-April. On arrival the children gather for some sharing time and Club updates. Here they are allowed time to share exciting things happening in their lives and they hear what is coming up in the Club schedule. Next they move into small group studies. Grade pre-k is know as the "Scooters" k-1 are known as the "Pee Wee Pioneers", grades 2-3 are the "Pathfinders" and grades 4-5 are the "Trailblazers". During small group the children are taught the Christian lesson of the week. Some examples of lesson topics include "Using the Bible", "Being a friend", "knowing our Loving God", and "All about Church".  Each year the exact titles change but the themes are the same.  We want the children to grow closer to Christ as they discover his word and what being a Christian means in their lives. This small group time also gives them the opportunity to get to know their fellow Clubbers better and make new friends. The last 30 minutes are used for the activity of the week. Different activities may include cooking, crafts, mission projects. These activities change with each club year. The children also participate in Game Night once a unit, either in the gym or outside.

Another important part of PC is our missions work. Children are taught that being a good Christian is not just coming to church, it also includes taking care of each other. Mission projects are chosen to show that we need to take care of individuals in our church, in our community, in our country and throughout the world. This past year the children helped to put together Christmas gifts for women in need, they made hand written letters, pictures and magnets which were sent to all of our Gravel Hill members on the prayer list and they gathered warm clothing, personal hygiene products and school supplies which we sent to our assigned child for the "Face of the Child" project through Little Samaritan. Our kids also "worked" our Living Gift Market during four Sundays in December in order to Raise money for Heifer International.

As children come to Club, complete the assigned lessons and participate in the activities, they earn badges. Each month we have award night where the children who completed the required work are called up to receive their badges and have their achievement acknowledged. At the end of the Club year we have Closing Ceremonies where special awards are given out and all of the children's time and work they gave to Club is celebrated.

All members are required to pay a $30.00 registration fee for the first child and $20.00 fee for any additional children, with an opportunity to get a $5 single child or $10 multi-child in the same family refund for registering online. This fee covers the cost of the Club t-shirt, pins, and workbooks. We also collect offering each week to help with the cost of supplies and any other expenses that arise.
